Funchicken is named after a chicken vending machine that lays an egg with a prize inside. Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson, award winning illustrators and authors sell hand-made mini-comics and zines from their funchicken website. Their zine, "The Pain Tree, and Other Teenage Angst-Ridden Poetry", was published into a book for teens by Houghton Mifflin. Esther Pearl Watson's comic "Unlovable" can be seen in the back pages of Bust Magazine and is in Best American Comics 2006.
